Meryls' Luck !

I don’t own the Truman Show. This is an alternative imaginative ending based around the original story.

Hannah who plays Meryl realises she is pregnant after Truman leaves the show. She is upset and does not know what to do. Read on for what Christoff has in plan for Hannah and her unborn baby.

“Why don't I make you some of this new Mococoa Drink?
All natural.
Cocoa beans from the upper slopes of Mount Nicaragua.
No artificial sweeteners!”

Truman looks at Meryl, “What the hell are you talking about?”

Truman backs Meryl around the room.

“What the hell has that got to do with anything? Tell me what's happening?”

Meryl freaks out and for a second she forgets her lines. Luckily, she regains her memory.

She blurts out, “Let’s have a baby!”

There was an awkward silence in the room before Truman could mutter another word.

“What? Where is this coming from?”

Meryl stood in the kitchen blanked out and lost for words.

She starts to think; think back to when she first started the show. She remembers that her family are struggling to get by each day. She remembers why she moved to Hollywood in the first place. She remembers the reasons why she decided to be “Meryl”.

What if Truman agrees to have a baby with me? What am I gonna do then?
What about MY family? What about MY future?

Truman is dumbfounded by this unexpected question from Meryl. He was too busy thinking about the reason why Meryl was acting suspiciously before that he didn’t see this coming.

“C’mon Truman, what’s stopping you?”

She makes her way over to him. She had been rehearsing and preparing for this scene for a very long time, and now it is finally here.

She reaches over for Trumans’ hands and pulls him closer to her. She leans over and says in a soft tone, “My darling Tru, I know you love me and you know I love you too, but I think it is time for us to start a real family now.”

Without hesitation, Truman pushes Meryl away.

“I don’t want to be stuck here in Seahaven forever Meryl! I want to travel; see the world; see new things; meet new people. Heck Meryl I wanna drive over a full bridge. Let’s leave this place! We’ll find a crew ship or we’ll just show up at the airport and go where ever we want.”

“No Truman! We already agreed that this will be the place for us. This will be the place that our children are going to grow up in.”

Truman glances over in Meryls’ direction. She was upset and was starting to tear up; he could see how much this baby really means to Meryl. Being the good actress that Hannah is, she was able to convince Truman to rid of his wild fascinations and he decides to settle for Seahaven.

That night, as Seahaven sleeps; they made love to one another. That night as the world watches on, Meryl got her wish while Hannah was stripped of her freedom and the right to her own future.

Business was back to normal the next day and this continued on for a while. For about one month, things were quiet for Seahaven.
Truman was his old self always with the expected “Good morning … and in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night”
until the day that he comes across Laurens’ picture.

This brought back memories for Truman as he thinks back about what she had said the last time he saw her.

“I am not allowed to talk to you.” whispered Lauren.

Truman thinks to himself.
Why would she say that?

When darkness came, Truman escapes to the beach to clear his mind. Memories of Lauren came flooding back. Each wave that hits the shore became a painful reminder to Truman of the day that he lost his father at sea. With each wave, he became more certain that he will have to leave Seahaven in order to overcome his fears of the water. With that thought, he makes his way to a nearby dingy and starts to venture on his quest to leave Seahaven.

Meanwhile back home, Meryl is feeling nauseous and is taken to the hospital by Marlon. Christoff is unaware of this as all his attention is now focused on Truman who is half way across the studio.

The boat hits the wall, Truman is gobsmacked. He slowly makes his way to the front of the mast where it had pierced the perfect blue-skied wall that faced him. Baffled by what he is seeing, Truman is shocked as mixed emotions rush through his head.

Is this why Meryl was acting weird earlier on? Is this why Lauren said she couldn’t talk to me?

Truman walks up the stairs. Just before he opens the door, Christoff speaks from his Sun room. His voice echoes across the studio.

“Truman...my son... Please don’t go!”

With a puzzled look, Truman turns around and asks, “Who are you?”

“I am your father”, exclaimed the voice.

“My father? My father was lost at sea... So who are you?”

Silence filled the studio as Christoff took time to answer,
“... I am the creator of this show! This studio and this world is what I created, all for you.”

“Truman there are a million people out there in the world who have looked up to you, and have invited you into their homes every single day of your life. Do you really want to disappoint them?”

Truman grins and he says, “I’m sorry to be a big disappointment to you FATHER!”

He takes a bow and with his final performance he says, “… in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night.”

With that last take, Truman turns his back to the Christoff and the world and exits the show.

Back in Seahaven, Hannah undergoes medical tests and discovered that she was now one month pregnant. With Truman gone, she is unsure of what to do with this baby. Tears start to stream down her face. She felt the disappointment of her family; the disappointment in herself.

Why did I sign up for this?

Hannah is devastated. She is not ready for a baby. She left her home and her family to pursue a career in acting and look at where her acting has led her.

Christoff enters the room, he has heard of the news and he can sense a court case coming his way. There it was, right in front of him was the consequence of his actions. While he contemplates the events which have just occurred; the star of his show gone and an unwanted pregnancy in his hands, he reveals another master plan for the world.

“Hannah!”, she glances over to Christoff, “Yes boss?”
“I have another plan. Do not fear, I have this under control. First we will have to agree on something first. How do you feel about a life time contract with the Studio?”

Hannah who plays Meryl is puzzled but she plays along. “What do you mean?”

“Your unborn baby will be the star of our next show. It will be the ultimate reality show that the world has ever seen and trust me, this time nothing will go wrong. Hannah it is your time to shine.”

It didn’t take long for Hannah to think about Christoffs’ offer. This contract would mean the world to her, her unborn baby and her family. She will never have to find another job. She is the only Meryl; the only one there ever will be. No one else can take her place. For a minute or so later, Meryl agrees to what Christoff has planned. She reaches over into her bag and pulls out a Mococoa Drink, places it next to her stomach, smiles and enthusiastically says “Mococoa Drink. The best drink for moments like these.”
